Creative Writing Workshops

I began my journey in creative and therapeutic writing seven years ago with CPD courses at the Professional Writing Academy, focusing on Therapeutic Writing and Workshop Facilitation. Since then, I've led workshops in a wide range of space from homeless shelters to community farms, by the sea to online. I have designed and delivered courses for organisations such as MIND, St. Mungo's, EcoWild, St. Petrocs and more. Alongside this work, my personal poetry has grown, with my poem "Essex Girls" commissioned by the BBC and "Sometimes Home Is..." shortlisted in The Poet's Pen competition.

In my sessions, I aim to make the page an inviting, playful space. Workshops are designed to help participants of all levels feel confident and inspired, often leading them to discover their own voice. I experiment with varied mediums—from music and field recordings to objects and photographs—to inspire creative expression. I offer both 1 to 1 and group sessions. Get in touch if you would like to book a workshop or know more.

'Laura's creative writing course was amazing. I was dealing with anxiety issues at the time so I was very apprehensive but I needn't of worried both Laura and the group were easy going and made me feel very at home doing the sessions via video. I found out that I have a real passion for writing and think that everything in life needs to rhyme'.- MIND participant

‘I had never put pen to paper in any creative way before and joined the first session with much trepidation. By the end of the session however, not only had I produced a very pleasing piece of writing but felt comfortable enough to share it with the other members, something that previously would have been unthinkable.' - Life Writing participant

'Being directed and encouraged to express yourself through all styles of creative writing has taken away the misguided preconceptions that I cannot create poetry, haiku or prose. The first time it happened was an eye popping, mind blowing moment. I'm ready to do more' - Wild Words participant
