About Laura
I am a HCPC qualified Art Psychotherapist and a registered member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT). I have experience working running Art Therapy sessions in a range of settings, including Pupil Referral Units, the NHS and community spaces, facilitating both group and one-to-one sessions with people of all ages and backgrounds.
My sessions draw on a wide range of art materials, guided by evidence-based practice and each client’s individual needs. While I have a specialist interest in using creative writing and natural or found materials, my approach is always led by the client’s preferences and requirements.
Before training as an Art Psychotherapist, I spent ten years working in the field of creativity for wellbeing—delivering workshops in charities, social enterprises, homeless hostels, mainstream and special education, and as a freelance practitioner.
I believe that creativity is fundamental to wellbeing and recovery, and should not be seen as an add on or a luxury. My approach is person-centred and integrative, drawing on techniques from multiple therapeutic models to meet each client where they are.
